A vertical accent stripe is a column of a different tile, or a metal-edged strip, that runs from the floor to the ceiling on a shower wall.
The feel: Tall and dramatic. It adds height and gives the wall a focal line.

- A stripe that runs through a niche and frames it
- Showers where the ceiling is standard height
What we like and what to know
What we like
- Adds height and a focal line
- Can carry the niche through the stripe so the niche looks built in
- Pairs well with a metal edge in a matching finish
What to know
- Fixtures that sit on the stripe need planning, so the valve and the shower head land cleanly on it
- A stripe through the niche needs a decision on the metal border

How we install it
We set the stripe flush with the surrounding tile and plan fixtures so the valve and the shower head sit centered on the stripe instead of straddling its edge.

Questions about this design
Can the valve sit on top of the stripe?
Yes. In the Shower Builder, a stripe on the valve wall places the valve and the shower head over the stripe so you can see how it looks.
Can a stripe run through a niche?
Yes, and you can choose whether the niche keeps a metal border.
